Outlook 2000 won't close

By DEREKHYPS ·
I open and use outlook fine but when I close outlook the box pops up saying "Outlook is closing" but it never does. The program has not crashed, it seems to be hung waiting for something in the background. I have a few of these win98's having the same problem. I've even formatted one pc. and reinstalled the programs and it still happens.

Try, if you haven't already, the windows and the office updates from Microsoft.

When the "Outlook is closing" box is hanging, press Control-Alt-Delete, select "Mapisp32" & click "End Task". Then press Control-Alt-Delete again & select "Microsoft Outlook" & again click "End Task". Wait a few seconds & you will get a confirmation pop up messsage for each program; click OK on both of these & then Outlook will close properly.
