Outlook 2002 DistLists no longer lists

By JohnGreer ·
I'm running Outlook 2002 under XP Home (SP2). I just noticed that all of my distribution lists have been somehow changed to no longer appear as distribution lists. They now show up as a single (empty) contact.

Any clues how this happened, or more importantly how to zap it back?

I don't remember how many users were in each, so it'll be very hard to re-create...

While I have not personally had this happen, is it possible you changed the location of your contacts? Also, I believe it is possible to archive contacts as well as mail items. Could you check your archive settings for the contacts folder and post back?

Wow, I though you were on to something there, but I checked my Contacts folder properties and Outlook 2002 does not show me an archive tab/option. Nice try, thanks!

P.S. I was able to recover the lists by restoring a backup of my PST file, and MOVING the lists from the old PST to the current PST. I'm still curious why it happened, if anyone can point me to the cause....
