Outlook 2003 - Email Folders

By unicorn ·
HI, I like most people have a complete list of folders which I use all year round, but there are times when I wish I could "empty the entire structure" so that I can start again. In other words, on a give date, archive the old emails, but keep the structure so I can start the year new with empty folders, and not have to reconstruct the structute. Does anyone have an idea how I can do this? Thanks in advance.

Use Outlooks .pst file to your advantage...

You can create your own .pst and place it wherever you want it. Once your .pst is created, you can empty those folders, one by one, without losing your structure. The data is retrievable from the .pst should you need it, though the whole bulk of it will be imported unless you create a .pst for each folder.

File\Import and Export\Export to a file (choose Personal Folder File .pst) then follow the wizard. When it asked what to name it and where to save it, I use the date, and place it in a Backup PST file in a directory of my choosing.
