Outlook 2003 Error

By chris.debardelaben ·
I have a user sending an email from Outlook and receives a MS Word error: "Unspecified Error". The email is in HTML format and there is a PDF attached. She is using Office 2003. I changed the format to Rich Text and the email transmitted normally, but for whatever reason, the company has to send emails in HTML. Nothing of substance in the Event Viewer.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Anti-Spam Software

by BFilmFan In reply to Outlook 2003 Error

I have seen issues where the anti-spam software at the recieving company will scramble HTML-encoded email that has a PDF attached.

Mail Frontier used to be notorius for this.

I would have the recieving company's person have your user added to the white list.

Uncheck Word as editor

by s.moffett In reply to Outlook 2003 Error

I would uncheck Word as the e-mail editor if it has to stay as HTML. I've had people with certain clients that have the winmail.dat issue on PDFs and re-assign it to plain text it works fine. If you can't use plain text, eliminating Word from the equation may help.
