Outlook 2003 is erratic

By roysimmons ·
I work on a LAN with 8 other people. We all have XP Pro, SP3.
My Outlook used to download my email as soon as I opened it up, plus send any outgoing as soon as I said "Send".
Lately, I've been getting a lot of Send/Receive errors, and most of the time, I don't get my first emails for 45 or more minutes when I first open Outlook. Then, throughout the day, I get more send/receive errors and then finally another stream of mail.
I've changed nothing and the others in the office are not having the same problem.

Have a look at the size of the PST File

It may be too big for XP to happily handle now.

You'll find it by opening My Computer Unhiding Hidden Folders and then navigate to

C Drive, Documents & Settings, User Account, Local Settings, Microsoft, Outlook.

If there is more than 1 GIG of Stored E-Mail you may be requited to Archive some of it to get things working correctly again.

Or it could just as easily be an issue on the Server with Stored Mail depending on what is actually used here and where the Incoming/Outgoing E-Mail is routed.
