Outlook 2003 - Receive Only Mode

By Analyticus ·
Anyone know of a way to run MS Outlook 2003 on a Windows XP Pro machine in the background to check for/receive messages at regular intervals without running on the task bar?
Situation is that I have a laptop user on the floor that has an email account setup, but one of his subordinates uses the machine most of the day. At times when he has a chance to get on the machine, it would be helpful if messages were already waiting.
Only one set of user credentials is used for both users, but only the leader/boss needs access to email. If Outlook could run in a state where it is only checking for mail, then the leader would have email waiting when he has access to the machine. Additionally, Outlook would not be running all the time -hogging needed resources - while the other guy is using it.

Sorry. This only works with IMAP email servers. We use a POP3.
Thanks for the input though. And, it's been so long since I submitted this question that I no longer need a solution.
