Outlook 2003 tries to receive to invisible account

I seem to have screwed up my Outlook 2003 account settings. When I do a send/receive, Outlook tries to receive mail into an account that is no longer visible in outlook account manager. The account is not valid so the receive process hangs and eventually times out.
Where can I find this account and set it inactive or delete it.
I have tried Regedit and found a bunch of accounts listed under the HKCU\identities\…\InternetAccountManager but this cannot be right as it does not hold all the current accounts (and does hold a bunch of obsolete ones)
It seems the accounts are also held under Windows Messaging Subsystem but here all the data is encoded so it is not possible to determine which account is which.
How can I find this rogue account and make it inactive/delete it
