Outlook 2003 wont keep Word 2003 as html editor

By ken ·
I cannot get outlook 2003 to keep its setting that makes word2003 as my html editor for emails. It keeps telling me that the 'document cannot be registered' and that possibly word is not registered or is not the same version as OL etc...Im at my wits end soon. What reg keys need to be modified or what? Any help would be greatly appreicated. Thanks

Without knowing more about this system I would hazard a guess that there is some other software involved that is causing this problem.

If this has a fairly Basic Software Load installed have you run both AV & Male Ware Scans recently which may be infecting your system?

If not log in as Admin and install the following software

as Male Ware Removal Tools and if you don't have an AV product you can use this one

http://tinyurl.com/prs9k

After these are installed you'll need to reboot and run the Updates so that everything is up to date and then reboot into Safe Mode and run the scans. With the Male Ware Scans if you find any infections remove them & rerun the scan till it comes up clean or you find something that you Can Not Remove and then you'll have to do some investigation about what type of infection you have picked up. If you don't run these scans in Safe Mode you will be unlikely to remove the nastier infections as you can not remove Running Files from Windows.

After you have cleaned up the system you may need top perform a Repair Install of Office to get it working correctly again.

Thanks Col for your help. I'm going to try your suggestions and see what happens. I'v run scans for Av/spam/malware/spyware etc to no avail so maybe your ideas will work. I'll let you know.
Thanks for your help. cheers, ken
