We have a Dell Latitude laptop, XP Pro, with pre-installed OEM version of Microsoft Office 2007. When we attempt to print to our networked Canon IR 2800 from Outlook we get an error. “There was an error when printing started. To check the printer setup, double-click the Printers Icon in Windows control panel …”
The printer and fax set up is pointing to an LPR TCP/IP port that we set up manually.
We eventually discovered that the user was using old drivers. We downloaded the latest drivers from the canon website (XP and Vista) and deleted the existing Canon printers and fax from the Printers window. We installed the new Fax drivers using the setup. we then installed the new printer and pointed it to the new driver and all is well
