Outlook 6 Problem on win98se

By garyfairlie ·
I'm having huge probs with Outlook express 6 on a 98se machine.
Everytime a read or send email request is sent it is nuking the connection to the modem.
No settings are defined to disconnect on a read/send request. It is driving me mad.

I don't want to lose the mail addresses and email msg traffic by uninstalling the rogue app. Does anyone know how I can install OE5x without sacrificing the existing email data etc?

thanx in advance

Frst you can export your add book via the file-export addressbook. Do a find for *.dbx. Theses are the files that outlook express uses. Copy the files to say a temp directory along with your exported add book. Uninstall 6 and then reinstall 5 you can then import the address book and then copy the dbx files back into the new outlook express directory.

When you updated to 6.0 did you also update I.E. to 6.0 ?
If not, you'll be unsuccessful at OE 6.0 since it is dependent on I.E.
