Outlook 97 Out of office assistant

We would like to have no response be sent to the sender of a message when the out-of-office assistant is on and forwarding messages to another e-mail address. This way the sender does not know that we are not in the office and our mail is being forwarded. We would like to do this at the workstation level. We are using Outlook 97 and Exchange 5.5 server with a 12 person LAN.
