I had some severe problems with my HP laptop and had to “recover” using the recovery partition on the HDD. That appears to have gone OK, although I took the precautions of backing everything up to an external HDD and making copies and lists of programs, passwords, and registration numbers.
Unfortunately, I did not have the foresight to export my Outlook Address Book to a CSV or text file so I could import it back into the new setup.
The problem is that when HP shipped the laptop everything was referenced to “Valued Customer”. That really got on my nerves and when I reloadewd with the recovery tool, I didn’t realize that by changing the username to my own name, I was effectively locking myself out of the old address book, even though it is still on the HDD in the correct location, but under the old username (an Administrator account).
Can anyone give me any idea of how I can get that Address Book back or am I in for a long haul of re-entering all my email addresses by hand?
Assistance/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
