Outlook alerts not working

I am looking for suggestions to see if anybody has had this issue and how it may be resolved. I have a user, OS: Win 2000, Outlook 2002, and when a calendar entry is set with alert notification set, event saved and shows up on the calendar, but thealerts are never displayed. The options in Outlook are set so that the alerts should display. I had Outlook 2000 installed first and was having the problem so I installed Outlook 2002 to see if the new app. would resolve. I have checked Microsoftknowledge base and found one fix to clear and purge the alerts but this also didn’t help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
