Outlook errors

By jay_linskey ·
Can someone tell me what the problem might be?

error messages:
1st message:
Personal Folders : This information service has not been configured. Select an
existing file to configure or type the name of a new file to create. I hit OK
and I getthis second screen:Create/Open Personal File folders
look into Outlook and then an icon with an archived file
The third messge is Personal Folders again only this time it says: Properties
for this information service must be defined prior to use. These errors
messages all started happening after I lost my Z.Sent Items a week or so ago so
I think it is related. I have left the errors on my screen. I reboot to get rid
of the errors but they keep coming back on a regular basis.

What is going on is that you have personal folders "installed" in Outlook, but it does not point to a .pst file (it was created without being configured). The "archive file" is probably a .pst file that your system auto created (outlook does that bydefault).

If you created personal folders and have information in them already (that is now missing) you can search for your .pst file and then re-link the folders.

If you *want* personal folders but have not set them up yet, where it says create/open enter the name you want the file to have in the box below with the .pst extension. For example, I may use Alpha.pst (it will be listed as *.pst in the box - rename it appropriately).

After this, when you open outlook, they should be present and you can copy mail, create folders etc.

One word of can only store 2gb of data in them. Yes I know thats A LOT, but I've seen people go over the limit...which is a bad thing (lost data).
