How to backup Messages in Folders and address book. Messages are most important vs address book. If you hard disk crashes or virus attack you could loose messages?

Outlook Express messages are stored in .dbx files.

To back up just the messages, all you need do is copy the .dbx files onto a CD or other backup media.

There will be 1 dbx file for each OE folder plus 1 additional file.

Where the dbx files are depends on your version of Windows.

In W98, the DBX files are stored at:

C:\Windows\Application Data\Identities\{a string}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

There will be a separate Identity folder for each user.

The address book is at:
C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book

There will be 1 .wab file for each user.

On W2K and XP, the folder resides in My Documents under each users profile.

You can also get a program to back up OE files from this site:

http://www.oehelp.com/OEBackup/Default.aspx

Remove any spaces from the pasted link.
