Outlook Express 6.0: Language Changed to French

By palmspringsroper ·
I see this issue all over the internet, but in every case, there seems to be a required fee to get the answer! In Outlook Express 6.0, the language in spell check suddenly changed from English to French and there's no option to change it to anything else. Yes, I have Microsoft Office 2007 and I've read that they have a new spelling database there that overrides what is in Outlook Express 6.0 (???) and causes this problem. Also read that Microsoft has not yet released a fix for this?

There is no Spelling Check in Outlook Express

by seanferd In reply to Outlook Express 6.0: Lan ...

It makes use of whatever spelling check engine that is available. If OE is using the Office engine, you need to set spelling-check options in Office to English.

Edit: I think OE can only use Office for selling-check, so Office is the place to look. If the language issue is still unfixed in Office 2007, you can install the English dictionary from Office 2003/XP if you have a copy.

You can use Outlook instead of OE.

You can try this for a dictionary for OE.

You can use a different email client like Thunderbird, or the SeaMonkey suite (both Mozilla).
