Outlook Express

By raydaniels ·
My hard drive became unbootable so I installed a new one. By putting my old drive back in as a second drive I can access my old files and folders. What folders do I need to replace on my new drive to recover my lost e-mail in outlook express.

IF YOU INSTALL OUTLOOK EXPRESS OF THE SAME OR NEWER VERISION TO NEW DRIVE YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO ACCESS YOUR OLD E-MAIL. BE SURE THAT YOU DO COMPLETE VIRUS SCAN OF OLD DRIVE IN-CASE THATS WHY IT CRASHED.

The best thing to do, is to "import" your old e-mails from the old drive.

Since the files are stored in different places for different versions of Windows and IE, start by searching the old drive for *.dbx files.
There will be 1 file for each folder you had in OE.

Once you know which folder the files are in, you can import the mail from OE.
Click on the menu items file/import/messages
Then, point the mail import wizzard to the folder that has the old mail files in it.

You can do thesame for the address book.
