I copied the Identities\{E4D7…} folders to CD prior to reformatting and reinstalling Win98. The previous OE was 6.0 and I upgraded the new OE to 6 also. I have recreated the account information in the new OE, but I can’t seem to import the messages from the backed up folders. (Verified acct info is correct by actually downloading some new mail from the mailserver.)
I tried creating a folder in the new OE with the same name and 1) Importing messages from the backed up folder and 2) overwriting the new folder with the old one. 1) When I point to the directory where the Identities and folder.dbx files are, OE says no messages can be found in the folder. 2) After overwriting (with OE closed) and reopening, clicking on the folder says folder could not be displayed. These are folders with a lot of mail – hope I haven’t scre**d the pooch!
