Outlook Express Problem

By garyfairlie ·
am having problems with OE 6
will not run as it says msoe.dll is corrupted or doesn't exist. the file is there.

I cannot reinstall or remove oe6 as this msg keeps on coming back

am happy to go back to oe5.x but is won't update as it still sees oe6 present so won't overwrite it.

That would be the Outlook Express file. When you updated to IE 6.0 did you get the Outlook Express update? You might want to reinstall it. There are also other updates you should look at if you are using IE 6.0
You can use CNET.COM to read yoursystem for software and they'll give you the updates right there. I've been using IE 6.0 for a few months now with no major hassles after I updated my system software.

Maybe all you have to do is remove or rename the file then replace it with another copy. The file could actually be corrupt. If it wont let you remove or rename in windows then restart in "clean" DOS and do your thing. The file is in c:\program files\outlook express. Try this before doing anything long and complicated.
