outlook express removes attatchments

i am running windows xp and am having trouble with outlook express, i have norton systemworks antivirus protection and have tried disabling the scan on incoming mail which still does not fix o e the issue is that it removes access to all my attatchments as it treats them as unsafe yet i know who the sender is and know that the attatchment is safe. if i forward the email to another email addy such as hotmail i can do what i like with the attatchment yet o e wont let me do a thing with it. very frustrated as i rely heavily on o e as my email client
