Outlook Express to Outlook upgrade

By jlgale2 ·
I had MS Outlook Express running on my Windows 98 system. It had quite a few user created folders of mine. I installed MS Office 2000. It appears to have dumped all my created folders when it upgraded my Outlook. It did bring in all my Inbox, etc. mail though. I also have Outlook Express running on my Laptop w/XT. I am still running Outlook Express on it (with all my folders intact). I would like to upgrade it to the full version, but maintain all my folders. How can I do this and fix my other one?
Thanks in advance....John

Outlook is NOT an upgrade to Outlook Express.

They are 2 totally different programs.
The ONLY thing that they have in common is that they are both produced by Microsoft.

Outlook uses a totally different file system than Outlook Express.
Your OE files should still be intact, and on your hard drive.

You need to either EXPORT your messages from OE to Outlook, or IMPORT them into Outlook.

Assuming you still have OE running, I would start by uses the export tool in OE to export your messages to Outlook.

Open OE, click on the file menu bar, and select Export.

Follow the wizard steps and complete the export.

You might want to back up your OE mail first.
Search your drive for *.dbx
There should be 1 dbx file for each OE folder that you have, plus 1 more.
Copy the files to a different folder to save them.
