Outlook Express very slow to start up

By alan.robinson14 ·
Outlook express 5, very slow to start up. Upgraded to Outlook Express 6, still same very slow start up 2mins.
Only 10 items in inbox, 5 in sent items, rest 0.

It doesn't matter whether connected to internet or not. All other applications start quick including Internet Explorer. What is Outlook Express doing?

Try this: 1) Delete all accounts in Outlook Express. 2) Delete History and all Temporary files in Internet Explorer, including off-line content. (Tools/Internet Options). 3) Run C:\WINDOWS\CLEANMGR.EXE ticking all the options. 4) Run ScanDisc (standard test). 5) Switch the computer off. 6) Wait 10 seconds and Restart. 7) Run ScanDisk to begin. Run Defrag. 9) Run ScanDisk again. 10) Start Outlook Express. 11) Restore the accounts creating them again in the usual way. 12) Close Outlook. 13) Run ScanDisk. Good luck.
