outlook headache

i have a problem with my outlook contacts. i migrated all my contacts from a previous computer to my new computer and now have a problem when sending a new email. My contacts are not available to select from. I can go to the contacts folder and can freely make changes to my contacts and sub-contacts folders but if i choose to email non are available. i also run winfax and have the same problem if i select outlook for my contact list.
