Outlook & IE5 Conflict?

By cjw ·
When using a dial connection to the internet it is fine so long as I dont go into Outlook first. Outlook is set as the default Email Package and works fine on its own sending and recieving. As soon as you finish outlook and try and connect to the internet, it comes back with unable to connect. Wait 10 minutes and evrything is then fine, I can connect to the internet again!
I have checked the Task monitor and nothing is running.
Any ideas?

Open the browser, click on Tools menu, selectInternet options, click the connections tab and select always dial my default connection only.
If the internet connecton is already open when using outlook, why do you have to reconnect the browser when it is already open.

Already set as the default connection. I make Outlook drop the connection after downloading Emails, saves on cost. I am using the shortcut key F5 to link & download Emails. Dont forget this is not through the Internet Bowser link to Outlook.

Hello,
This behavior might be due to Dial-Up networking/modem settings. Could you please check, if there are any settings, as ?Idle time before hanging up? or something like this. It could cause the line not to be dropped, or to be dropped incorrectly.
