    Outlook Major problem

    Locked

    by mthansen ·

I use outlook XP for most of my scheduling and email. I went to enter a new calander entry yesterday and could not. Upon further investigation I can’t create anything new in any of the features of Outlook. No new mail, no new messages etc. It is as of it is in read only mode. I have done nothing to make it this way, however my 2 year old daughter will just start hitting keys on the keyboard if someone leaves my office door open. It is like a magnet for her. She may have done something. However, 2 hours of searching on the Internet has left me no closer to an answer. PLEASE HELP. I really need to use this program.

I would suggest checking the following first.

      Right click on Outlook today
      Hit advanced button
Check box that says “upgrade to large tables”

If that doesn’t work, I would try running scanpst.exe – It repairs the outlook database but you have to know where the outlook file is located. To find this,
      Right click on Outlook today
      Hit advanced button
look for Path near the top of the page

Less technical answer but you might try repairing to a saved checkpoint if your OS offers that feature in System Tools. Repair to a saved checkpoint/date that you know is prior to the date you started having this problem.

Well, I do appreciate all the help. Upon further investigation I found that it was reporting my license for office was expired. Which should not have been. I reinstalled the whole office package and low and behold it is fixed. I do not know what happened, and when I reinstalled it did not ask for my key. Go figure. Thanks again all.
