Outlook not downloading the whole of an email

By barry.cook ·
Today I have received two emails in response to an earlier one I sent out to two other friends. They had both clicked on reply and added their comments but all I received in Outlook was a copy of my original email without their reply. On checking the emails in my webmail accounts both were perfect. I tried to forward one to myself and again outlook stripped out the reponse.

Any help would be much appreciated

A couple of possibilities....

If Outlook is malfunctioning, you can start it in 'safe' mode. You do this by holding the CTRL key while launching the app.

If it operates normally in safe mode, then some add-in for the program is faulty, or you may need to reinstall the application.

In general, when an email client begins to act strangely, my first concern would be malware or virus, so make sure you've got everything up to date in that department.

Thanks. Have tried it in safe mode but no different so reinstalled it and still no change. I use Kaspersky and it is up to date and does a daily scan. No problems reported.

This maybe down to the space on your local C drive how much space is free, also how big is your email folder is it over 2G.

The problem is with a space issue, del old or send email then del from the bin then try again.

Outlook - not downloading whole of email

by barry.cook In reply to Seen this

C: drive is only 35% full and only 40 emails in inbox.

As far as I can see it is only two emails that have caused the problem. On checking them in my webmail account I noticed that they both had an attachment called winmail.dat which I think originated in my first email as I sent it in rtf format. The attachment did not appear in the reply downloaded to Outlook.

Could this be the cause of the problem? Have changed my settings to send future emails in plain text.
