Outlook & Outlook Express setup

Why is it when I setup Outlook to get my mail it wont work, yet Outlook Express will?

Wher is there a good guide in making these setups?

Verify that outlook is the default e-mail client.Right click IE shortcut icon on the desktop.choose properties,select Microsoft Outlook from the E-Mail drop-down list on the Programs tab.
Check to see whether Secure Password Authentication is enabled.
Click the Start button,choose Settings,and then click Control Panel
Double click the mail icon and click show profiles.

there are some or many possibilities, I can only come up with a few of them.
1) are you sure Outlook Express is installed? because Outlook needs Outlook Express to run.
2) the settings of both Outlook Express and Outlook is more or less the same. So the only problem if your Outlook doesn't work is that the settings is different. Check the connection setting
that's all I can think of right now...
