outlook to get yahoo email

i have winxp pro, using office 2000 version of outlook. this is from home using dsl connection.

how do i get outlook to get the mail from my yahoo accounts? i have tried adding pop.mail.yahoo.com and smtp.mail.yahoo.com but all i got when it tried was a repeated loop of asking for my yahoo password, i would enter my pass and click ok but it would pop up again asking for my password.

please help as i would rather get used to using outlook rather than not using it and forgetting how it works.
