Outlook vCard appears as a note

I’m using Office XP (2002) and when I create an email, attach a vCard, it appears as a note (with pushpin) rather than a card. When I view the properties of the contact, the icon shown is a note, but on others appears as a card.

If I open a contact that appears as a note and click Actions > Forward as a vCard, it then appears as a card.

When I add a new contact and then create an email and send it, it appears as a note also.

Does anyone else experience this and or know how to correct it so that any card I send appears as a card and not a note?
