Outlook Web Access account missing Email

We are currently using OWA as a temporary mail solution. We have experienced some problems whereby mail messages are sent, and not received for up to a week. This has happened to a few users now and we are currently looking at troubleshooting OWA,as well as examining possible network latency issues. Any advice that could point us in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
