Outlook XP File Hyperlinks & Win 95 PCs

A file access hyperlink that I create in Outlook XP opens up fine on a Windows 98 PC with Outlook 98/IE 5.5. However, on a Windows 95 PC with Outlook 98/IE 5.5 it opens the hyperlink and starts the IE browser, but then stops at root level of the mapped drive that contains the file I am trying to hyperlink to. Any thoughts are appreciated.
