In Outlook XP (PC is running Win 2000)I select file/print to print an e-mail and this action results in the display of a windows error box wanting to close Outlook and the e-mail does not print. Printing from WORD or EXCEL to the same printer.. print jobs print fine.

A few things you are doing file and print, I suppose you have tried just clicking on the printer icon? Try removing your printer rebooting and add it back in.
Have you updated your computer? Try going to microsofts website and do an update, some times a patch will fix problems.
Has this always happened or did it just start?
Have you added any new programs or add ons?
Is this printer connected to your computer or is it an network printer?

Yes, the same thing happens when I select the printer icon on the task bar.
Have tried the following...
Uninstalled & reinstalled Outlook XP.
Uninstalled & reinstalled the printer.
Installed Outlook 2003 & same problem printing.
The printer was just added 2 weeks ago.
Printer is a shared printer attached to another PC on the network.
Other PC in the same department can print from Outlook just fine. Those PC's are printing from Win 2003.
No new programs added to PC.
Some items will print form Outlook but when I open up an e-mail to print, that's when it tells me that Outlook needs to close as a result of sending a print job to the printer.
