We have sbs4.0 running exchange for an internal public folder, i have one pc that when ever I try to open outlook it comes back with the error that it can not find the exchange server. I set it up in control panel/email with the exchange client plus I have uninstalled outlook, reinstalled…I have removed the profile for mail and set it back up from the beginning with no luck….any help would be great

On the PC where outlook is running add an entry to hosts file with an exact netbios name of your exchange server and an ip address. I.e. if your exchange server name is SERVER1 with an IP address 10.0.1.2 then an entry in hosts file should be like “10.0.1.2 SERVER1”. Then in Exchange Server properties in Outlook type the exchange server name exactly as it appears in hosts file and try running Outlook again. To verify that the server is accessible from the PC at the command prompt type “ping SERVER1” if you are getting a reply from the server – all OK. Hope this helps.
