Outside access to internal Intranet.

By jeffb ·
I'm running IIS and I have an internal Intranet. How can I securely give access to people from outside the company?

Hi Jeff,

You should consider an inexpensive VPN solution. I am sure you have a firewall.

1. Get a public IP
2. Put up the VPN box in parallel to the firewall and connect one end to the Internet router and the other to the internal network.
3. Use PPTP (less secure, included in Windows 2K/XP) or IPSEC (more secure, separate software) to connect to the network.
4. You may consider refurbished VPN boxes like the Nortel Contivity 600 that can support upto 50 concurrent users or similar offerings from SonicWall, Linksys, etc.

Have a firewall(H/w - S/w) installed and set access rules ( Ports needs to be listened for external network ) . For such setup u may require a Static Public IP address .

Post your quires in detail to have some idea abt your infrastructure .
