One of a couple of things most likely

by OH Smeg In reply to over clocking

The CPU speed is set wrong in BIOS. Even if the Speed is right the FSB & Multiplier may be wrong.

The CPU Fitted top the M'Board isn't supported by the M'Boards BIOS.

The BIOS Battery is flat and the BIOS Settings are not being held when you turn off the computer. Or if new the Jumper for the BIOS Battery is set to Disconnected to save the Battery till the M'Board is installed into a computer.

is it possible to update my bios?

Yes you can download the newest BIOS & Flashing Utility from here

http://tinyurl.com/9qlck

The 1008 is the newest version though there are a couple of Beta Versions available but I wouldn't recommend them for production use.

If you need instructions on how to Flash the BIOS they are listed on the Left Hand Side under the tab called How To Upgrade Your BIOS.
