PacBell DSL PPPoe setup in Corel Linux 1

    Locked

    by ken_mclane ·

I am trying to setup my system as refferred to above. Firstly, ifconfig does not show the Kingston 10/100 PCI ethernet card, and modconf does not list a driver for it. I do not know if it is even possible to set up PPPoe through Linux. I need to either make it work with Linux or cancel my DSL with Pacbell, as they no longer give out single IP adresses, you must now pay for 5. Thanks in advance, Ken.

There are several things that you need to verify.
#1. Are you sure that you need PPPoe? Did Pacbell tell you that you need it? I have set up DSL with GTE and all that was required was to set the IP and default gateway.
#2. Are you saying that youhave no eth0? That is what your card should be (if you only have one card)
#3. Have you read http://www.roaringpenguin.com/pppoe.html? They advise that you upgrade pppd if you are running Corel 1.0, and have an address at debian.org where you can do so. Iam running Corel 1.1 myself, and have added lots of stuff from debian, which is what Corel is based on. Also take a look at http://www.davin.ottawa.on.ca/pppoe/ for an alternative.
Of course you need the nic working first.
Let me know if you need any more help.
