Palm m130 connection to Nokia 5210

    Locked

    by r. a. caluste ·

I’ve a palm m130 (palmos4.0) using multimail and configured to connect via IrDa to my nokia 5210 phone. Using the phone’s built-in modem, I was able to dial-in to my server. During the Signing on process, the Nokia phone displayed the message “Terminal connection lost” and the Palm goes like “ERROR: PPP Timeout”. I tried connecting to other ISPs and same error. It stops during “signing on” phase. Is tehre a proper way to configure the prefs on my Palm OS, or is the problem with the phone? Thanks.

Chances are that the problem is with the setting on your Palm. M130 devices do not come with the network support as standard, but there are products available to add this functionality (netsync being one) The best place to look other than this, is at the settings for the network connection that you have created to your server/ISP. Normal problems include timeout and script problems. There are details on the Palm web site for most script settings for ISPs (search knowledge base for ‘network’). Best to try as default – PPP timout to Power off and script set to :End on the first line.

I swapped my phone with a 6210 and that worked for me. 🙂 Anyways, the netsync answer proved to be a valuable source of information. Thanks for the answer!
