Palm T E Music

By mylal67 ·
Realplayer uses the .rax format and it will not transfer to my Palm RealOne Player on the Tungesten. Palm web site indicates that Realpayer supports the PALM. Do I have to convert the music on the RealPlayer site to another format? For the not so technical, this is a little overwhelming and Palm does not address the issue or give you a site to ask these questions. Need road map!!

Real's site states that the Palm player supports rm and rmj formats only. If you are using the rax format (RealPlayer 10) then you will probably need to convert them to one of the formats that the Palm player supports. See Real's site:

I noticed that RealPlayer also plays MP3 formatted files as well, so you might go that direction. If you've tried converting MP3s to .rax files to play, it might be an exercise in futility. I do see from the link in the previous post, that the RealPlayer for PalmOS plays .rm, .rmj, and .mp3 (both CBR and VBR) files.

According to the docs for RealPlayer (available by clicking on "installing and using"), it indicates that you can easily transfer the files to the PDA if you're using Windows. I'm not going to post detailed instructions here, but follow the link above and go to "installing and using." Scan down the page and find "Transferring files to your Palm OS 5 based handheld." That'll get you there with a minumum of headaches.

I will tell you that transferring files via hotsync is considerably slower than using a card reader (or integrated SD card slot as is now a part of many laptops), so plan for your hotsync to take a lot longer.

Good luck!
