Paper Source Not Retained

by curran . Updated 24 years, 11 months ago

I am having trouble with a few systems in the office where I set the default paper source to a certain tray so that users don’t have to manually select a paper source when printing from apps like Outlook, IE and Netscape. Most of the systems are retaining this setting. Unfortunately a few are not. I have gone into “Settings” “Printers” and properties for each printer and selected the lower tray as the default. In some cases the default is “high capacity,” another may be “tray 3,” etc. On the contrary systems, I immediately go back in to look if the setting took and it has gone back to “AutoSelect” which outputs everything printed to the manual tray unless specified each time by the user (which is unacceptable). I have tried other printer drivers to no avail. We use Windows 98 SE on the desktops running on a Windows 2000 server using profiles. Would anyone have any idea as to why this setting won’t hold on some systems?
