Part 2 - Of Very Sick PC: Won't Recognize me as Administrator...

By kehill50 ·
Hello All:

Thanks for your help in recoverying my PC! I am almost there.

Well, here is the next "issue"....

Eventhough I log in with Administrator. I cannot disable programs using MSCONFIG. When I
select the applications I do not want on STARTUP, and then attempt to APPLY the changes, I get the message:

"You must be logged on as ADMINISTRATOR..blah,blah.....blah"...

Problem is I AM the Admin!

1. So I deleted the OWNER Account, and recreated the account in SAFE MODE.
2. Assigned myself ADMIN rights.
3. Attempted again to remove the APPs in MSCONFIG.
4. Got the same message again.

With that, I again ask for the sage wisdom from the members of this Forum.

Thanks again in Advance!

Re: PC Won't Recognize me as Administrator

If you go into your "user account" and just change your "password" that is in your so called admin account, this will make you admin when needed. I had the same info on my computer so i just changed the password so i can log on as admin. You do not need to go into "safe mode". I hope this helps you.

Please post back if you have anymore problems or questions.

I went to the control panel and changed my administrator password.

I then executed the MSCONFIG and it still does not work!

Any Suggestions...????

try this

Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->User Accts.

Add another user from scratch, make admin rights and reboot.

Make sure your pc is not automatically booting into a different account.

I tried that too...!!! Question: How do I make sure I am not booting into another account.
