Password Protected Attachments?

By Hoppy2020 ·
Trying to streamline a company procedure, I've been asked to try and find a way to password protect e-mail attachments - Does anyone know of a way to do this and if so what systems does it require?

Password Protected Attachments?

The way I use for attachments over the Internet is zipping. Winzip, pkzip etc. etc. all support adding a password. This is used as a seed for encrypting the file, so not easy to crack.

The another way to get a stronger mail encryption is to use some spesial software, like PGP (become a standard de fcto in e-mail encryption).

Use the following link to find more information abot PGP:
http://www.pgp.com/products/mail-file-encryption/default.asp

You can use a totally free version of this software:

Any systems required need to be server-side only, as we are trying to send information to subsribed members of the public.

Hi !

Using WInzip is the best solution to make any file Password Protected.

If you are sending MS Word, Excel or any other MS Office Document as attachment then they support itself for Password Protection.

You will ofcourse need to check what firewalls the people you are sending to use. Some encrypted files are stored as exe files, which many email firewalls wont allow. Passworded zips often fail firewalls.

If you require simple effective methods then Excel and Word have passworded options. Further files can be zipped and passworded. Some email firewalls can encrypt files for you, but the user must have the same firewall at the other end.
There are a few options but ofcourse they all have there upsides and downsides.
