password them folder and files

In Windows NT v4 sp6 I have a Data Base File-Such as access and word where I keep
them separate in a directory not in the program. But my users dump into
them.

I would like to password them so no one else can view these only me.

Is there a way to do this and if so can you give me details step by step to
do this.
