PC Problem

Computer just cut off while I was on myspace.
When I restarted it cut on beeping and then cut off, monitor screen stayed black. When I disconnected the hard drive, the beeping stopped, fan kept running but nothing on screen. I put another hard drive in no beep but pc started and cut right off

The beeping usually indicates a memory fault, but no display and the shutting off would indicate a power supply problem. The first thing to check would be that the memory cards are properly seated, to check this, remove them and reseat them and try to power up. If the fault still happens I would suspect a bad power supply but a quick visual check of the motherboard for any bad capacitors would eliminate a bad motherboard. Look for bulging or dislogded capictors and possible leaking or corrosion on the board around them.
