PDF file doesn’t open

When I try to open a pdf file through outlook, a message shows stating “Adobe acrobat reader could not open this file because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged”. What are some ways to solve this issue?

  It’s a bad PDF so the fix is to ask the person who sent it to send a good copy.

  There are several potential causes for this issue and a few different things you can try to resolve it. Here are a few suggestions:
  
  Check to make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. You can download the latest version from the Adobe website.
  
  If you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed and the problem persists, try repairing the installation. To do this, open the Adobe Acrobat Reader installation folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC) and double-click the “Setup.exe” file. In the window that opens, select “Repair” and follow the prompts to repair the installation.
  
  If the file still will not open, it’s possible that the file itself is damaged or corrupt. In this case, you may need to try opening the file in a different PDF viewer, such as Foxit Reader or SumatraPDF. These programs are available as free downloads.

  Here are some of the most common culprits to consider: Your laptop doesn’t have a PDF reader installed. Your PDF reader or preferred program is out of date and needs an update. Your PDF application is potentially damaged or needs to be rebooted.

  sometimes you update your system then causes the problem re-install your new version of PDF reader and then try to open your file.

  If you are getting this issue, it may be due to an unsupported file type or a corrupted file. Still, you can try the following solutions to troubleshoot this issue:
  1. Save the PDF file on your computer and try opening it from there. Many times, trying to open an email attachment directly from an email thread may cause an issue.
  2. Ensure you use the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  3. Try opening the file using a different PDF reader to check whether it works or is corrupted.
