PDT Handheld Image query

By ariesr ·

I have a number of Symbol PDT 6846 Handheld devices which from time to time I have to reconfigure using WaveLink Avalanche to apply Hex Images to them.

What I'd like to do is know how to create or edit the Hex Images. One of them contains info specific to our environment.

Has any had experience of this? Any pointers to take this further are very welcome.

In most cases, you're just packaging up some binary code

these 'hex images' are deployment 'packages' which you build/modify with the 'package builder' app, that is part of the console:

The Avalanche Package Builder SDK simplifies the process of preparing and configuring software deployed to mobile devices
using Wavelink Avalanche. The SDK provides an easy-to-use graphic interface that allows a user to:

- Bundle software into the Avalanche Administrative Console and file system

- Configure the selection criteria that defines which mobile devices will receive the software

- Specify settings within the software

More detail on the Avalanche Package Builder SDK and how it is used is available in the Package Builder User Guide.

I hate to mention this, but I worked with Symbol handhelds and WaveLink stuff for around three years or so....part of a very big SAP roll-out.

Hi Robo,

Many thanks for your quick reply. Can I confirm that it is possible to view what is in these hex files and potentially edit them within Package builder?
