I have IMAP email on my android phone and on my PC. I want to be able to delete my email from my Samsung Email on my phone but not have it delete in my outlook on my computer. I used to be able to view my phone emails and delete them once read so that I only get new emails on my phone. When I logged into my outlook on my computer all those emails I deleted on my phone appeared in my pc outlook email which is indeed what I want. If I delete on my computer they would delete on my phone but not vise versa. Ever since I purchased a new PC and installed windows 11 and outlook on it, I no longer am able to do this. I am not able to see any setting on my pc outlook or on my samsung email about leaving an email on the server.

That’s the expected behaviour for IMAP. IMAP means that the mails aren’t on the local device but on the server. So if you delete them on your phone they are deleted on the server, and other programs tghat use IMAP-devices won’t see them any more.

Set your phone to use POP3. Then mails are copied to local storage on the phone and only deleted there (if you also specify ‘leave on server’).

Is POP3 same as POP in settings? I went to my email client website to get the POP setting & they warn me about using POP & say I should never mix by having pop on one device and imap on a second. Does this mean I have to also change to POP on my pc? They offer me a setting that looks like this: pop.emailclient.com. Nothing says POP3

Yes, OP is short for POP3 (there used to be a POP1 and POP2 also).

There is no harm to having POP on one device and IMAP on another, unless you delete mails in IMAP before they are downloaded in POP3 (no longer available) or download them into POP3 and with delete from the server (no longer available in IMAP).

But looking into POP3-mails while leaving them on the server is harmless for any other client (pop3 or imap), even if you delete them on the POP3-client beause they still are on the server then for any other mail-client to read.
