Permission denied to access Microsoft Word Files

    by djrop ·

I recently encountered a permission denial to access several files in Microsoft Word. After fruitless efforts to gain permission by attempts to revise system settings (Windows 11), I stumbled upon an article that suggested I check my anti-virus app because some blocked access to specified apps. I checked the settings for AVG and indeed that was the case. I do not know how it happened but when I unchecked Word from the blocked apps, my problem was fixed.

Most of us use what Windows comes with (Windows Defender.)

After all the troubles folk tell me about AVG and others, I can’t see why I’d install an antivirus app.

Certainly! I understand that you recently had an issue accessing several files in Microsoft Word and were unable to gain permission even after attempting to revise system settings in Windows 11. However, you came across an article that suggested checking your anti-virus app, as it may have been blocking access to certain apps. Upon checking the settings for AVG, you discovered that Word had been blocked and unchecking it resolved the issue. It’s unclear how Word got blocked in the first place, but unblocking it in the anti-virus settings fixed the problem.
