I am trying to find a way to make phone calls with my computer. I would like to be able to make long distance calls, across the DSL connection and not incur the charges. MSN Messenger requires you to get a voice carrier. Is there a way of doing this. What applications would be needed? Thanks!

I am afraid you might be out of luck. The best cheap VOIP service that I've heard about is still Net2Phone for PC to POTS calls.
If you want to make PC to PC calls, try www.skype.com. It is a P2P program made from the same guys that make Kaza I believe.
I haven't tested it out ( Friends & Family haven't installed it yet )but from what I read it has some neat bells and whistles ( Encryption, Address Book etc.... )
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
Phone calls over DSL Free?
