Pivot charts

What’s the reason for using a pivot chart? And how is it created? I was shown this feature of Excel once and tried doing it then, but I could not grasp the concept. Is there anyone out there who actually uses this? Please help. I need a quick tutorial on this, as I have a large spreadsheet and I need to create reports. I’ve heard this is faster, but I don’t know…..
