PM Sysytem integration as a niche

By gavin ·
I?m working on a large project right now with a company who is impementing Project Server 2002 and Project 2002 Professional for 50 Project managers and 300 users. I?ve really grown to enjoy working with the package, have been told I?m doing work that the clients really appreciate and feel is high quality, and hope to move into this are of work as a niche!

As a bit of a background, I have been a sucessfull small business system integrator/VAR for five years, and have a basic understanding of the project managment process, and Project 2002.

I would have to take some higher end project management training, of course, which I?m fully prepared to do. I believe that if I?m to offer my services as a system integrator specializing in project management software systems, I have to be able to back up my work with a very good understanding of the Project Management process.

My question is this:

What I can offer an organization very high quality IT planning, implementation, knowledge transfer, and support of the actual hardware/software that the organization uses to implement and manage their PM processes.

Is there a need in the PM world for a consulting company that specializes in the system integration/implementation end of project management? I would have to partner with a company who could provide the training of course, but I have very reputable contacts in that area.

Also, can anbyone give a ny advice on an efficient method of moving into a niche form a more general practice?

Thanks everyone!
